Frequently asked questions about making contact with Kailo, bookings and payments
How do I book?
You can either email, or phone me- see Contact page for details.
If you require a visit within 24hrs I will try to accommodate you, but please understand that if I am already heavily booked this may be difficult. If you wish to book an appointment for within the next 48 hours, please phone me rather than contacting me via the web.
How long will it take for you get back to me? If I am not available when you call or email I will make contact as quickly as possible- please leave a message and try to make your return contact details as clear as possible. If I am out of range when you make contact, and it is a non-urgent matter, your email or phone call will be returned within 24-48 hrs. Please try to give some indication of your timeline- this will help me to get back to you as promptly as possible.
How and when can I make Payment?
KAILO is a small business- it is necessary that all payments be made either prior to or on the day of your appointment. Invoicing is only available by special arrangement.
I accept payment by cash or cheque on the day of your appointment. PAYPAL can be used for pre-payment of your session, for the pre-payment of special packages/block bookings, and to pay for gift vouchers. For information on paying by PAYPAL please contact Carolyn at KAILO.
For appointments requiring extensive travel or which preclude other business from being conducted, the payment of a deposit may be required.
Do you charge an hourly rate or a flat rate? I charge a flat rate for intial consultations and for repeat visits. I work in response to the horse. Sometimes he or she wants a lot of bodywork during a session, and sometimes less is more. It is equally counterproductive to force too much upon the horse in one session as it is to do too little to address the horse's needs. Over the course of a series of sessions or an ongoing programme, the session times tend to balance each other out. This is why I do not charge an hourly rate and charge per session instead. You will notice during my visit that I am working according to your horse's signals, rather than running to a timer- this means that your horse receives exactly what he or she needs, when it is needed.
What is included in the fee?
- assessment
-
bodywork
- discussion of findings after session
-
up to an hour of "office time" spent preparing a report on each session
-
a copy of each session report for the client (this will enable you to understand and track the issues, changes and bodywork addresses your horse experiences)
-
travel (within reasonable limits)
- courtesy calls- for post session care, monitoring and feedback
- availability to answer your questions and assess your horse between booked visits if you are uncertain of his needs
- in the case of horses with special needs or health/rehabilitation considerations- time spent liaising or discussing your horse and his/her programme with your vet, farrier, dentist or trainer and time spent coordinating a care strategy with you and these other professionals
How do I know if my other horses need bodywork? Will you charge for looking at them?
Once your horse's session has been concluded I can conduct brief assessment of the bodywork needs of other horses if a bulk/block booking is going to be placed.
Occasionally another horse who is already under my care needs a tiny amount of work when I am visiting one of the other horses owned by a client. Usually I am happy to attend to this need if the previous horse's session has concluded and I am not required to leave immediately for another appointment. These mini-sessions are usually complimentary. If necessary we can also schedule a full session for the horse at a later date, based on my findings.
Do you offer discounts?
I create packages for clients who "block book" and pre-pay multiple sessions, whether the sessions are to be used for one horse or several horses.
The rate for individual sessions is lower when they are packaged in this way.
A group of people keeping horses on the same property can purchase multiple sessions and receive the same special rate as a single client making a "bulk" booking.
If clients live in an area outside the travel range included in the standard fees and they arrange for me to see other horses in their area, travel charges will be waived.
