Dr Jodie is a General Practitioner with a special interest in women’s health, including women’s intimate health. She believes that it is important to remove the stigma associated with discussing women’s sexual function and the changes that our bodies experience as we age. Removing the stigma includes ensuring that women have access to all available treatment options to ensure that our life has the joy we deserve through all stages.
Dr Jodie received her Medical Degree in 2012 and is one of the few doctors in Australia trained in the innovative O-Shot® procedure for improving sexual function for women. She also works as a surgical assistant to gynaecologists and general surgeons on the Central Coast of NSW, bringing her years of experience and knowledge to KAILO clients from October 2022.
Why the O-Shot®?
Relationships can be impacted by a lack of arousal and painful sex. The O-Shot® offers a solution to these issues. The O-Shot® procedure is a doctor administered, simple, non-surgical and comfortable treatment. This treatment does not require ongoing medication and takes less than one hour. The O-Shot® can help resolve issues that affect women of many ages such as difficulty orgasming, dryness of the vagina and a libido that is lower than you would like.
How does the O-Shot® work?
“People have been doing research for twenty years into ways to extract growth factors from the blood stream (the same growth factors that stimulate wound healing when someone sustains an injury) and how to use them to promote healing after surgery or disease. For example, studies demonstrates that injecting this platelet rich plasma into the knee will help rejuvenate cartilage.” Extract from “Activate the Female Orgasm System” by Charles Runnels.
The O-Shot® uses this same technology of PRP (platelet rich plasma) injected into the vaginal and clitoral tissue. The concentration of the growth factors within the PRP encourages the recruitment of stem cells to increase the growth of new tissues and regenerate existing tissue to the area. The vaginal and clitoral tissue has the opportunity to be healthier which results in improvement in function.
The O-Shot® may help with sexual function including:
- Sensitivity: helping achieve orgasms more easily
- Lubrication: reducing uncomfortable intercourse caused by dryness of the vagina
- Libido: increasing arousal and excitement
What is involved in the O-Shot® appointment?
Consultation
A consultation with Dr Jodie includes a review of your current symptoms and concerns, medical history, and the risks and benefits of the O-Shot® procedure. She will also answer your questions that you may have. Finally, your written consent will be required for the procedure.
Treatment
Your comfort is the focus of the O-Shot® procedure. We have Entonox gas (the same gas offered in many maternity suites and dental offices) on offer and a numbing cream will be applied to the clitoris and the vaginal opening. While the numbing cream is taking effect we will take a blood sample and spin this blood sample in a centrifuge to isolate the PRP. We call this the liquid gold as it holds the growth factors that rebuilds the tissue! We will offer you the use of the Entonox gas and ensure that you have good technique with your use of the gas. This gas takes the edge off any sting associated with the sting of the local anaesthetic (pain relief) which is injected next.
The PRP from your own body is then injected into the clitoral and vaginal regions. We will invite you to rest on one of our lounges for 15 minutes with a drink to relax before heading home. The total time for this appointment is approximately one hour.
