So often, we hope that one day in the future we will wake up and everything in our life will be different. We will have changed. We will feel aligned and be living our life’s purpose.
The truth is, if we don’t make a plan to achieve this, or take even the smallest action towards these goals… How can that day ever come?
You can create a new habit any time. You don’t have to wait for the calendar to tick over. But the collective energy of the New Year can be an excellent time to set new goals and maintain accountability for your new routine.
So the question is, 'Who are YOU, in 2022?'
If you're looking to make your life a bit calmer or improve your mental health, you may want to consider adding meditation to your New Year - New You routine.
Our brains are highly dynamic, changing all the time. Through prolonged stress, or trauma we end up with conditions of anxiety, brain fog and fatigue. Just as easily however, with the right training and guidance we can build our confidence, calm our emotional responses and strengthen our attention span!
A consistent meditation routine is key to this process. Through meditation, you can change the way your brain is wired. Mindfulness studies done by Harvard researchers show improvement in working memory, increased attention span, improved mood and overall brain function in just 8 weeks of meditation.
Many people complain that they can’t sit still for five minutes let alone achieve a state of calmness through meditation, but it’s not as hard as you think.
If you can’t stand the idea of sitting with your legs crossed and chanting ‘ohm’ for hours, don’t worry. A light, healing state of meditation can be achieved by doing anything that calms your mind. For some people this might be dancing, singing, writing, drawing, cooking... or even cleaning!
The easiest way to develop a lasting routine, is to start in a group or a class. The collective group energy will help you relax faster and stay in a deeper state of meditation.
Once you learn the process of meditation, you will never lose it and can tap into this peaceful state at any time.
If you'd like to try it for yourself, join my meditation class through Kailo Online Wellness! The next 8-week workshop begins on Wednesday, January 5th.
